What safety equipment is provided?
We provide filtered-air helmets, in-helmet communication systems and the safety equipment required for the tour. Guests receive a complete safety briefing and must wear their seat belts and helmets whenever instructed.
What should I wear?
Wear closed-toe shoes, comfortable outdoor clothing, sunglasses and sunscreen. Long trousers and clothing that can get dusty are recommended. Bring a light jacket during the cooler months.

About Fishing

What species can we catch while fishing in Loreto?
The species available depend on the season, water temperature and local conditions. Common targets may include dorado, yellowtail, tuna, roosterfish, snapper, grouper and billfish. Your captain will recommend the best fishing plan for the date of your tour.
Is a catch guaranteed?
No. Fishing depends on natural conditions, including weather, currents, water temperature, bait and fish movement. Our crew uses local knowledge to provide the best possible opportunity, but no responsible fishing operator can guarantee a catch.
Do I need previous fishing experience?
No. Our Loreto fishing tours are suitable for both beginners and experienced anglers. The captain and crew can explain how to use the equipment and assist guests throughout the trip.
Is fishing equipment included?
Yes. Rods, reels and standard fishing tackle are included. Bait and other inclusions may depend on the selected fishing experience, so please review the individual tour details before booking.
Can we keep the fish we catch?
Fish may be kept when the species, size, season and quantity comply with current fishing regulations. The captain makes the final decision, and protected, prohibited or undersized fish must be released.

What can we do with our catch after the tour?
Depending on the catch and local availability, the fish can be cleaned after the tour. Local businesses may also be able to vacuum-pack it so you can transport it to your destination.

Several restaurants in Loreto may prepare your same-day catch for you. Restaurant preparation, packaging and transportation charges are not included unless specifically agreed in advance.

Do you practice catch and release?
Yes, when required by regulations or appropriate for the species. Guests may also request catch and release. Fish should be handled carefully and returned to the water as quickly as possible.

Can children join a fishing tour?

Fishing can be a good family activity, depending on the child’s age, sea conditions and the length of the trip. Contact us before booking so we can confirm whether the selected tour is appropriate.

What should I bring?
Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, comfortable clothing and any personal medication. We recommend a lightweight jacket during cooler mornings and a protective case for phones or cameras.
What happens if the weather is unsuitable for fishing?
The captain evaluates the marine forecast and conditions before departure. If Aventuras Tours cancels the trip for safety reasons, you may move your reservation to another available date or receive a full refund of the amount paid.

About whale watching

When is whale watching season in Loreto?
Whale watching in Loreto is seasonal, generally from January through March. The exact timing changes each year because whale movements depend on natural ocean conditions.
What whale species can we see?
The Sea of Cortez around Loreto is known for seasonal blue whale sightings. Depending on the date and conditions, guests may also encounter humpback whales, fin whales, dolphins and other marine wildlife.
Are whale sightings guaranteed?
No. Whales are wild animals moving freely through their natural environment, so sightings cannot be guaranteed. Our captain uses local knowledge and current information to provide the best possible opportunity while respecting the animals.

How close can the boat get to the whales?
We follow current whale-watching regulations and the instructions of authorized captains. The boat maintains the required distance and never chases, blocks or surrounds a whale.

Sometimes whales choose to approach the boat, creating a very close encounter. When this happens, we remain calm and follow the appropriate safety and wildlife-viewing protocols.

Is the whale watching tour suitable for children?
Yes, whale watching can be a memorable family experience. Suitability depends on the child’s age, sea conditions and ability to remain safely seated on the boat. Contact us before booking if you are traveling with young children.

What should I bring on the whale watching tour?
Bring sun protection, sunglasses, a hat, comfortable clothing and a windproof or warm layer. Winter mornings on the water can feel cool, even on sunny days. A protective case is recommended for cameras and phones.
Can I fly a drone to film the whales?
No. Flying drones around whales is not permitted. Special authorization is required for scientific research or professional documentary purposes.
Will the tour be cancelled if the sea is rough?
Safety always comes first. The captain makes the final decision based on wind, waves and marine conditions. If we cancel the tour, you may move your reservation to another available date or receive a full refund of the amount paid.
What happens if we do not see a whale?
Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed, and not seeing a whale does not normally qualify the tour for a refund. The crew will still provide the best possible marine experience based on the conditions and wildlife present that day.
Why is whale watching in Loreto so special?
Blue whale season is one of the most anticipated times of the year in Loreto. Local residents feel extremely fortunate to welcome the largest animals on Earth into the waters surrounding their community and to share this natural wonder responsibly with visitors.

About Scuba Diving

What is scuba diving like in Loreto?
Diving in Loreto generally takes place around volcanic rock formations, reefs, walls and underwater pinnacles within Loreto Bay National Park. Divers may encounter large schools of fish, rays, moray eels, turtles, nudibranchs, sea lions and other marine life.
How deep are the dives?
Most recreational dives are planned at approximately 60–70 feet, or 18–21 metres. There is usually no need to go deeper to enjoy Loreto’s marine life and underwater landscapes. Depth and dive profile are always adapted to certification, experience and conditions.
Are there strong currents?
Many Loreto dive sites are calm and have little or no current, although conditions can change. Our divemasters select the site according to weather, sea conditions and the experience level of the group.

Do I need to be a certified diver?
Certification is required for regular recreational dive tours. Guests without certification can book Discover Scuba Diving, which includes instruction and close supervision from a PADI professional.
What is Discover Scuba Diving?
Discover Scuba Diving, or DSD, is an introductory experience for people who want to try scuba diving without completing a full certification course. It includes a safety and skills session followed by a supervised dive.
How many dives are included in the regular scuba diving tour?
The standard scuba diving tour includes two dives at sites selected according to the group’s certification level, experience and sea conditions. The complete itinerary lasts approximately five hours.
Is scuba equipment included?
Tanks and weights are included. Complete scuba equipment can be rented from Aventuras Tours for an additional charge unless the selected package specifically states that equipment is included.
What if divers have different experience levels?
Our divemasters review each guest’s certification, recent diving experience and preferences before departure. Whenever possible, the sites and dive profiles are adapted so relaxed divers and more experienced divers can enjoy the day safely.
What is the water temperature?
Water temperatures change considerably throughout the year. Winter water is cooler and requires greater thermal protection, while summer and early fall generally bring warmer conditions. We will recommend the appropriate wetsuit before your dive.
What is the underwater visibility?
Visibility varies according to the season, wind, plankton and dive site. Loreto can offer excellent visibility, but natural conditions change and a specific distance cannot be guaranteed.

What marine life can we see?
Depending on the island, dive site and season, divers may see sea lions, rays, turtles, moray eels, nudibranchs, groupers, snappers, pufferfish and large schools of tropical and pelagic fish. Wildlife encounters are never guaranteed.
Can I fly immediately after scuba diving?
No. Divers must leave an appropriate surface interval before flying. Your dive professional will explain the recommended waiting period based on the number and type of dives completed.

What happens if weather or sea conditions affect the dive?
The captain and dive professional select the safest and most suitable sites available. The itinerary may change, or the activity may be rescheduled or cancelled if conditions are unsafe.
